John Hyden
John Hyden is one of the most accomplished and enduring figures in professional beach volleyball. A two-time Olympian (1996, 2000) and a former member of the U.S. Men’s National Indoor Team, Hyden transitioned to beach volleyball in 2002 and quickly made his mark. Over his career, he has won 28 Open titles, including 13 on the AVP Tour, highlighted by back-to-back Manhattan Beach Open victories in 2011 and 2012. Known for his strategic play and leadership on the sand, he earned AVP Best Defensive Player honors in 2009 and 2013, and was named AVP Team of the Year in 2015 alongside Tri Bourne. Hyden also made history internationally, winning the FIVB Berlin Grand Slam in 2014 at age 41, becoming the oldest player ever to claim a Grand Slam title.
Off the court, Hyden and his wife Robyn run HYDEN BEACH, a premier beach volleyball academy in Nashville, Tennessee, where he coaches and mentors aspiring players. A dedicated family man, he enjoys playing sports with his children, Samantha and Jackson, and continues to inspire both teammates and the next generation of athletes with his longevity, experience, and passion for the game.
